National Park Cerro Castillo Traverse

In this adventure I will pick you up at the airport, to drive towards a National Park that offers one of the most diverse landscapes in the region of Aysén, northern Chilean Patagonia. We will walk along and through pristine glacial rivers, from grassland “pampas”, through forests, up to mountain passes to finish with one of this region's most iconic mountain views of the colossal Cerro Castillo, crowned with its sharp sedimentary rock towers and a gorgeous glacier on its chest, that will leave you speechles. All of our adventures end with a proper Asado!

Day 01

We will pick you up at Balmaceda airport or around the city of Coyhaique to travel towards Villa Cerro Castillo, where we will check our equipment, make sure everything is ready for the next day and then meet our Chucao Adventures Team.

Day 02

We head towards National Park Cerro Castillo, is not that what we came for? Before departing our hike along a beautiful glacier river, let’s make sure our equipment is all checked and mate is served, then we will begin our trek.

Day 03

We have our morning coffee at National Park Patagonia! After our breakfast we will pack and head out, stepping out of the forest, and experiencing the first footprints of glacier influence, we will then set up camp in another beautiful Nothofagus forest. We'll close the day with a beautiful ronda de bota.

Day 04

After our morning round, we will head slowly out of the forest towards a mountain pass, often still covered by snow during December, we will set up camp and share about our day, about the glaciers we saw, the water we drank and what a beautiful place we will be in.

Day 05

Cerro Castillo awaits, we have a few variables today in terms of camping, this will be determined on the spot based on weather on what we decide as a group. Let us stay tuned and open, it is on us to make the best of what weather, the park and how we are doing.

Day 06

We will leave the Glacier moraine of Cerro Castillo and descend towards camping Neo Zelandés, set up our camp, and then head out again for an extra hike. Long day? Don't worry, we are almost there!

Day 07

We will hike out, it won’t be a long day, great reward to our legs, while another great reward awaits us! We will look back to this incredible National Park and make sure we revisit our favorite spots, before we leave  to our next adventure

Day 08

I will transfer you to our previously agreed dropoff point.
