Westfjords

The Westfjords of Iceland are one of the most remote corners of this, already, remote piece of wilderness. Though Iceland's tourism is high, this National Park is kept for the adventurous, reason for which I picked this place.

Weather conditions make this place rugged and wild, allow people to see value in each other, creating a special culture of collaboration and a geography that I can still revisit in my memories with awe.

As all my adventures this is a self sustained expedition, where load is shared as well as a proper dive into one of few remote wilderness areas of our astonishing nature world.

Day 01

Upon arrival I will be waiting for you at our campsite with a prepped dinner where we will take a look at the map, division of equipment and get to know each other in person, after a toast we will go to bed, as the adventure is ahead of us!

Day 02

Today after a solid breakfast, we head towards the harbour to hop into our ferry.

Once in Hesteyri, we get a small snack and we will start our hike crossing this peninsula on a 15 Km hike, that will allow us to land in the remote area.

Day 03

After our coffee or Mate, we will head out over a pass, where often artic foxes are seen! Our feet will get wet on the way but the scenary and experience will be absolutly worth it! Welcome to Hornvík

Day 04

The great Horn awaits! This cliffs are not just stunning but also a bit evasive, let's see if the nordic gods grant us passage!

Day 06

After packing our camp, we head down south on a pass where despite summer and low elevation can still surprise us with snow or hail. We begin to look back to an adventure that we will revisit for years. Arrive at Veiðileysufjörður, where the boat will pick us up!

Day 07

Our last breakfast together, we are hoping our legs and heads will get over what we have experienced soon, but for now sore legs and our blown away minds, are the feelings we expect to depart Isafjordur with.
